Ash has been the mainstay in furniture and culture for centuries. The name ash comes from the word "spear" perhaps due to the trees spear shaped leaves. Fraxinus, the English name for Ash, is a genus of flowering plants in the Olive and Lilac family, Oleaceae.
These Beautiful Bracelets are made from salvaged sections of local ash trees. Ash is not resistant to insect attack, the Emerald Ash Borer has devastated populations of ash trees. The technique of cold bending creates a natural bend and allows us to use this beautiful wood. The bracelets are then dried beside a wood stove in our Pennsylvania studio. They are then hand sanded and covered with a natural shellac finish. These bracelets are durable yet extremely light, which makes them feel like they are floating on the wrist.
